Name:

Dr Nicole Avard

Qualifications:

B Med (Newc) FRACGP

I'm a GP who specialises in women's health, my practice focuses on perimenopause and menopause

Where can we find you?

I’m a Co-Founder of Metluma, a virtual, doctor-led menopause clinic delivering personalised, evidence-based care through a connected team of clinicians and wellbeing experts, supporting women through perimenopause and menopause with clarity.

Why do you love what you do?

I love helping women connect the dots in their own health journey, so they can better understand their bodies and what they’re experiencing. By empowering them with knowledge and practical tools, I support informed, confident shared decision-making. Most importantly, I walk alongside them every step of the way, offering guidance, and compassion throughout their health journey.

Why would someone come and see you?

Navigating menopause can be tricky, and finding accurate, trustworthy information is often harder than it should be. Many women come to see me because they want clarity, not confusion, and care that looks beyond one-size-fits-all advice. While hormones can be an important part of the picture, menopause is not just about hormones alone. It’s about creating strong foundations for ageing well, supporting long-term health, vitality, and quality of life.

When do you introduce the idea of lubricant with your patients?

Around any discussion regarding low libido and vaginal discomfort

What’s your favourite fact about the female body?

On average the female brain exhibits stronger connection between both hemispheres compared to the male brain priming it for enhanced processing of language and emotion.
