Where can we find you?
On social media I'm at @kathbaquie.physio, my podcast and app is Fitnest Mama and for in-person physio consults I practice out of Hatched House.
Why do you love what you do?
I absolutely love helping women feel proactive, informed, and empowered in their bodies. Whether it's reducing pain, building strength, or supporting recovery — it’s so rewarding to guide women through a stage of life that can feel overwhelming and under-supported. For too long, this area of health hasn’t received the attention it deserves, and I feel honoured to be part of changing that.
Why would someone come and see you?
Women come to see me, either in the clinic Hatched House, or for my online app - at all stages of pregnancy and postpartum:
-
Pre-pregnancy: for issues like incontinence, pelvic pain, painful sex (including dyspareunia or vaginismus), or to proactively prepare for pregnancy
-
During pregnancy: to manage pelvic girdle pain, back pain, and to prepare their body — especially the pelvic floor — for birth
-
Birth prep: including perineal massage education, pelvic floor awareness, and pushing strategies
-
Postnatally: for pelvic floor recovery, postnatal rehab, returning to exercise (including running), and managing postpartum aches or pains
Ultimately, I support women who want to feel strong, confident, and proactive about investing in their long-term health.
When do you introduce the idea of lubricant with your patients?
Lubricant often becomes part of the conversation when we discuss sexual health and comfort — especially around:
-
Postpartum: when hormonal shifts can lead to vaginal dryness and discomfort with sex (especially during breastfeeding)
-
Pregnancy: where fluctuating hormones or changes in tissue sensitivity may require extra care
-
Pre-pregnancy: in cases of painful sex, including conditions like vaginismus or dyspareunia
It’s a simple yet powerful tool that can make a big difference in helping women feel more comfortable and confident.
What’s your favourite fact about the female body?
Just because you feel weak after birth doesn’t mean you’re broken.
The female body is designed to rebuild.
Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary change — growing an entire human being! And birth, whether vaginal or caesarean, is powerful. But even if you feel like you're starting from scratch — even with pelvic floor trauma or pain — the body has an incredible capacity to recover and grow stronger.
With the right support, women can absolutely bounce forward, and grow stronger and recover. The female body is adaptable, resilient, and truly remarkable.
