What do you love most about your job?
Being a pelvic health physio allows me to make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s helping someone regain confidence after childbirth, reducing pain, or addressing something as common as leakage, seeing the progress my patients make is incredibly rewarding. It’s such a privilege to be part of their journey to better health and well-being.
Why would someone come and see you?
People come to see me because pelvic health impacts so many aspects of life—from comfort and confidence to physical function. Whether they’re experiencing pain, leakage, or prolapse, or just want to feel stronger during pregnancy or postpartum, I’m here to guide them. I also see patients who are proactive about their health and want to prevent issues before they arise. Whatever the reason, my role is to provide personalised care, education, and practical tools to help them feel their best.
When do you introduce the idea of lubricant with your patients?
I bring up the idea of lubricant when the patient could benefit from reducing friction or enhancing comfort. This might be during conversations about painful intercourse, vaginal dryness (which can occur postpartum, during breastfeeding, or with hormonal changes), or when utilising tools like vaginal dilators or pelvic wands. Lubricant is such a simple and effective way to make these experiences more comfortable. I always recommend high-quality, body-safe products.
What’s your favourite fact about the female body?
One of my favourite facts about the female body is how interconnected everything is. For example, the pelvic floor doesn’t just impact bladder or bowel control—it also plays a key role in core strength, posture, and even breathing. In fact, the pelvic floor is even connected to our jaw! Small changes in one area can have a big impact on overall function and well-being. It’s a beautiful reminder of how everything in the body works together and I am to incorporate this holistic approach into my practice.
